Section 65
Outpatient Therapy
Mental health assessment, treatment planning and counseling support.
What outpatient therapy is about
Outpatient Therapy at Cross Roads supports people seeking mental health assessment and treatment under Section 65. Therapy focuses on clinical concerns and treatment goals. It differs from case management, which coordinates services and community resources.
Assessment and treatment planning
A clinical assessment helps a clinician understand the concerns that brought someone to therapy, relevant history, strengths and the effect on everyday life. Treatment planning uses that information to identify goals and discuss an appropriate course of care.
When asking about counseling, describe what you want help with and any questions about participating. The clinical team can explain the services it currently offers, whether they fit the request and what assessment or supporting information is needed.
Practical questions to bring
- What concerns or changes in daily life led you to seek counseling?
- What would you like to work toward in treatment?
- Are other providers or supports already involved?
- What questions do you have about the assessment, appointments, access needs or current availability?
Referrals and getting started
Use the existing referral form and select Therapy Referral. Follow its instructions and provide the information requested for the referral. Call (207) 487-7056 if you need assistance completing a required field or choosing the appropriate service.
The team reviews the request and explains the next step, any further information needed and current availability. A referral is a request for review; it does not confirm admission, an appointment or an immediate opening.
What type of counseling can I receive?
Discuss the treatment approach, clinician availability and appointment format with the clinical team. The assessment and the services currently offered determine the appropriate next step.
